People that inspire me: Jenny Blake

Apr 7

I ‘met’ Jenny about 2 years ago. I don’t recall how I found out about her blog ‘Life after college’, but I do remember how much I liked her writing. She is honest, authentic, vulnerable and strong. She has awesome advise and insights and is just the right amount of ‘woowoo’ I can take. I commented on one of her posts and she replied and somehow we decided to meet up. It was my first virtual blind date :)

Jenny works at Google (and is now on a sabbatical to promote her book) and I was excited to meet her there for lunch. I was slightly nervous for many reasons and excited to be welcomed to the ‘holy grail’ of Google at the waterfront in San Francisco. The receptionists looked like teenagers to me (and I am not THAT old) and the restrooms featured those awesome japanese toilets that are fully automated – and the cafeteria played electronica music, had awesome food, drinks and an amazing view of the bay bridge.

But back to Jenny: not only is she an amazing blogger, but she just published her first book: Life after college!! If you are looking for a ‘coach in a book’ – this is it. It’s a great steal for just under $10 and you will get many insights on how to overcome obstacles and to take action. The book is full of helpful tools, insights, quotes and resources. It is practical and inspirational. And it’s quite nice to look at as well.

Jenny inspires me: she shares her ups and downs in a raw and honest way that deeply resonates with me. Building my own business and also creating a web presence for myself and my business I know how it can be sometimes hard to stick with it. I am glad Jenny did and the outcome is a great book, not only for college grads!
